Happy New Year friends! If you didn’t finish 2022 strong, that’s okay. If 2023 is starting off slow, that’s okay too. Let’s all make a vow to be kinder to ourselves this year. With that being said I’m feeling rather ambitious at the top of the year. I’ve set a lot of goals for 2023, and I’m sharing 5 goals for 2023 that are closest to my heart.
Read at least 23 Books.
There was a time in my youth where I would go to the library, check out as many books as I could carry, and read them all in a week. Little Kandice would be so disappointed in my lack of reading. I miss getting lost in a book and that feeling I got waiting to find out what happens next. I love books and reading, and I want to honor that by committing to reading more. 23 books in 2023 is my goal, 50 books is my stretch goal. I’m on goodreads ( Kandice Ford) so follow me and help keep me honest!
Take a quarterly trip.
I’ve spent alot of time over the past several years working and grinding and being stretched thin. I’m not a soft life kind of girl but I understand the need to unplug and recharge. I haven’t had a proper vacation in ages. My goal is to go on 2 weeklong vacations this year, and then 2 shorter long weekend trips. I want good weather, good food, lots of sleep, and lounge time completely unplugged.
Be more aggressive in my investments.
I’ve done some deep dives in the world of personal finance over the past 6 months, and I am determined to be as financially sound as possible. The state of the economy makes me a bit nervous, and the best thing I can do is have a plan. I am doubling my retirement contributions this year, and opening a separate investment account for stocks, as well as a high yield savings account.
Be More mindful about Movement
I am a lifelong inconsistent exerciser. This is not something I am proud or ashamed of. It’s just a fact. I do however want to be the best version of myself, and for me that means finding something I enjoy and sticking with it. Not sure what that looks like yet routine wise, but I will be trying out different things until I find something that is enjoyable.
Foster Stronger Community
One of my biggest takeaways from the potential collapse of Twitter and how sad I and many other people were was the loss of community. People look for and need community, and that comes in many forms. I am really focused on being consistent and fostering strong community here with my blog, Instagram, my newsletter etc. I want this to be a place that people come back to, enjoy, and make friends.
What are your goals for 2023?
