5 Goals for 2024

Happy new year! I hope you had a relaxing holiday season and are coming into the new year feeling refreshed and renewed. I am determined to start this year off better than last year. I’ve been thinking about goals lately, and what I want out of this year. I’m sharing 5 goals for 2024 today, that cover personal, professional, low stakes, and high. My word for 2024 is Forward.

Decompress without Screen Time

I am addicted to my phone. Between my phone and iPad I spend entirely too much time mindlessly scrolling, watching tiktoks, and generally wasting time. I’ve noticed a direct correlation with the amount of time I spend on my phone and my lack of focus in other areas. It’s way too easy to tell myself, I’ll just scroll for 5 minutes and I look up and an hour has passed. Trust me, you do not want to see my screen time report. I’m replacing my screen time with reading, crosswords, and coloring. I’ve found these activities help me relax without being overstimulated.

Diversify my Brand Content

2023 I blogged more consistently than I have since my initial blog launch in 2020. I’ve learned how important it is to show up, albeit imperfectly. I’ve also learned how important it is to retain control over the things I own. 2024 I will create video content, grow my newsletter, and increase passive income for the blog.

Go To More Concerts

A low stakes goal, but one that’s crucial for my overall happiness. I love music and prior to the pandemic I went to multiple concerts a year. I’ve been to one a year the past few years, and my goal is to see more shows. There are few things that give me an adrenaline rush quite like live music. It’s been 4 years since I’ve seen Incubus in concert, and that drought comes to an end this year.

Hit a 10k step goal 3x a week.

I have a love/hate relationship with exercise. The longest I’ve kept a consistent exercise habit was for 6 months in 2020. I get on the bandwagon, I fall off, wash, rinse, repeat. I figure some movement is better than none, so my starting goal is to hit at least 10k steps 3x a week. Walking is easy and free and will help me build better habits. I do well with positive reinforcement, so seeing my step goal and closed rings will motivate me to keep going.

Lower My Credit Card Utilization

I’ve talked about my experience with fixing my credit before. This past year was rough on my finances with an apartment move and the cost associated with that. My credit card balances are higher than I would like. Credit card utilization makes up almost a third of your credit score, so the lower the better. 30% is what is usually pitched, but 10% is the sweet spot. My goal is to lower my balances and keep them at or below 10%.

    Thanks for sharing your goals with us. Congratulations on working that writing muscle. Sometimes good is good enough when it comes to producing content.

    One of my goals is to build add 1,500 subscribers to my main email list in Q1 of this year.

    2 other goals I have are to sleep 8 hrs a day (may need to incorporate naps) and to drink 90 Oz of water each day.

      Keeping a Tumblr/water bottle close helps me with my water goals. I also need to start going to bed earlier. I’ve heard magnesium is good for that.
