White shorts are a summer wardrobe staple. Lighter fabrics pair well with warm weather and you have an easy go to look. I’ve shared my personal style tips before, and white shorts fall under my classic element. You can dress them up or down, and these is how to style white shorts.

Dress Them Down

It gets hot and humid down south and when you need a casual outfit pair your white shorts with a simple t-shirt. I am partial to stripes, but solid colors and graphic tees work just as well here. The key is to go for lightweight breathable fabric so no matter what the temperature is you can keep cool.

Dress Them Up

If you want to step it up a notch swap our your t-shirt for a blouse with feminine touches. I love smocked shirts in the summer, and they take your outfit from super casual to fit for a lunch date or casual gathering.

Pick The Correct Length

A big part of pulling together a look is catering it to your body. Personally I hate bermuda shorts. I’m also not one to wear Daisy Dukes for everyday. I’m tall with a long torso, and I’ve found that a 5-inch inseam works best on my frame. Long enough but not too long. The mid-rise sits well with my long torso and doesn’t cut my waist off.

Pair with a Simple Shoe

9x out of 10 if I’m wearing shorts I’ve paired it with a sandal. I prefer a flat shoe that’s easy to walk in and will work for multiple settings. This is not the time for flip-flops or slides, save those for another occasion. A strappy sandal or a pair of Birkenstocks would work well here. Keep your color neutral as not to overpower the rest of your outfit.
