A good cocktail is one of life’s simple pleasures. A 3-ingredient cocktail is even better. I may not be from Texas, but ranch water is one of those things I can see they’ve perfected. Low sugar, easy to prep, and perfect for back porch sipping or an after work night cap. I hopped on the ranch water train a couple of years ago, and I haven’t gotten off. This is my go to drink to make at home. Texas ranch water is refreshing and light, and you’ll want to add it to your summer cocktail rotation.
What Is Ranch Water
Originating in Texas, Ranch Water is a tequila based cocktail that consist of just 3 ingredients. A couple of different people claim to be the inventors, but the end result is the same. Ranch water is a tequila water cocktail that’s light and refreshing without the sugar or fuss of a margarita. Cowboys and Texans alike have been hip to it for years, and everyone else has started to catch on.
How To Make Ranch Water
Fill a glass with ice. Add 2 oz silver tequila. The juice of 1 lime, and top of with sparkling water. Give it a good stir and there you have it. Now purists will tell you that Topo Chico is the only sparkling water suitable for ranch water. I prefer Topo Chico over other options, but I understand it can be hard to find at times. Your favorite sparkling water will do as a fine substitute.
Variations
If you want to get fancy, you can always add fruit. We’re in the middle of berry season so fresh strawberries or blackberries would make a great addition to your drink. If you like spicy, slice up a jalapeno and muddle it in the bottom of your glass. You can also rim your glass with Tajin.
