Classic Lime Margaritas

May 5, 2023

There is nothing I enjoy more than a margarita when the mood strikes. I’ve been to my fair share of Margarita Mondays, and had my fair share of mediocre margs. I’ve come along way from 99 cent margaritas and cheap tequila. I perfected my margarita recipe, now there is nothing I enjoy more than a classic lime margarita. These margaritas come together quickly, and can be enjoyed on a weeknight evening or at your next party.

Classic Lime Margaritas

There are a few things that separate this margaritas from what you may get at your local bar or chain restaurant. When it comes to mixed drinks, I’ve found that fresh quality ingredients make all the difference.

  • Lime juice – freshly squeezed lime juice makes all the difference in the world. Margarita mix can’t hold a candle to the real thing.
  • Tequila – I prefer a blanco tequila over a gold. A top self brand is preferred. My go to is Espolon. Readily available and won’t break the bank.
  • Triple sec- Skip the general version and go with the good stuff here. My preference is Cointreau.
  • Agave nectar – I really like the subtle sweetness that agave nectar adds and prefer it over simple syrup.

Variations

  • Tequila – A smokey mexcal would work great here if you like more kick
  • Juice- Strawberry, Mango, and Pineapple are great options for different flavors.
  • Simple syrup – An infused simple syrup such as jalapeno or mint kicks the flavor profile up.
