#NSALE : MY BEAUTY PICKS
Hello Lover
Happy Thursday y’all! Still covering the #NSALE andwe have made it to my favorite topic, beauty products. I love beauty and I am super picky about what I use. With that being said I wasn’t super impressed by the selection available this year. There are a few gems, so check them out after the jump!
I know we’re all doing alot of hand washing these days, and if you’re like me your hands are dry all the time. Kiehls makes the best hand cream I’ve tried, so you need to pick it up. I use it right before bed so I wake up with soft hands.
In my not so humble opinion, the French always come correct in terms of beauty products. I discovered this L’Occitane almond shower oil via Youtube years ago, and it’s a staple in my collection. It smells amazing, and if you use it to shave you will have the softest, silkiest, skin EVER.
Since smelling good is a must I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you about a body wash option. Malin+Goetz falls under the radar in my opinion, and their rum body wash falls into the category of sexy grown up scents.
If you’re like me and have a hard time picking out fragrances, than a mini set is the perfect way to try out different scents before you commit to one. Jo Malone has a diverse range of fragrances, and this collection is a perfect way to try them.
As far as skincare not much stuck out but there is one product I recommend. If you have large pores, acne prone skin, or just want to look more radiant overall than Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid is a must. It’s a chemical exfoliant instead of a physical, and I use it in the mornings a few times a week. After you cleanse and tone, use your hands to pat it into your skin before applying moisturizer.
We can’t forget hair and this set from Briogeo is a perfect introduction to one of my must try black owned brands. The scalp revival is perfect for clarifying and removing buildup, and the mask is great for repairing damaged hair.
Last but certainly not least, I couldn’t cover beauty without mentioning at least one face product. I saw a makeup artist say once that eyes will get you noticed, but skin will get you paid. I couldn’t agree more. Setting your foundation is key to making it last all day, and the Laura Mercier setting powder is a cult favorite for a reason. This set is a great way to try the powder and the foundation, and I’m sure it will convert you to a believer.
Those are my beauty picks folks! I don’t think you need every beauty product, but I do think you need a carefully curated collection of things that actually work. Let me know what you’re looking forward to buying in the comments!
3 PRODUCTS TO STAY DRY IN THE SUMMER HEAT
The holy trinity of summer skin saviors
It’s that time of year friends. We are smack dab in the middle of summer. Or as I affectionately like to call it, Back and Boob sweat season. Some people love summer. I am not one of those people. Summer for me means a few minutes outside in the heat and I start to sweat profusely. It also means that as someone who is blessed in the chest and a member of the thick thigh brigade, chafing is inevitable.
For the longest it seemed like something I just had to deal with. Summer heat and chafing go hand in hand. Luckily, in recent years brands have gotten hip to the dilemma and acted accordingly. I have discovered a few products that are game changers and allow me to wear whatever I want and stay dry, chafe free, and comfortable.
- Lush Silky Underwear dusting powder
Shout out to the OG beauty vloggers for putting me on to this. It’s a dusting powder and I use it for keeping boob sweat at bay. Sprinkle a bit over your chest and under your boobs before getting dressed. It I’ll help you stay dry and it smells like lavender.
2. Monistat Care Chafing Relief Power Gel
So this is probably the last brand that comes to mind in terms of chafing but stick with me. This is the first product I ever found that actually worked for chafing. It’s a gel formula that dries to a powder. Use it anywhere there’s friction. It also helps to soothe any area that’s already irritated from chafing. This is the most affordable of the three, but it may require reapplying after several hours.
3. Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick
This is the newest product in my collection, and the only one specifically designed for thighs. It comes in stick form, and just like deodorant you roll it on. It takes a few minutes to dry but once it does it leaves you super smooth. I used this on my recent trip to Memphis. It lasted all day and I was able to wear shorts and dresses comfortably
There you have it! Everything I use to survive the summer heat. I hope if you are in need of some products or just need a good laugh, this was helpful to you. Let’s not suffer in silence friends. If you have tried any of these, or have other products to recommend leave them in the comments!
